For the first time, Hoka is the main sponsor of Frankfurt’s city marathon and luckily, they asked me to join them for the weekend and run the 42k through “my” city after I already went to UTMB in Chamonix earlier this summer. Frankfurt Marathon is one of the oldest and the second biggest german marathon with around 11-13.000 participants each year, the race is famous for its scenic skyline route. Due to reasons, 2020 and 2021 did not have an FFM Marathon but this year should be a big comeback.
Hoka went big this weekend, with events all around the city and on a boat on the Main river. They even brought stars like Jan Frodeno and (ffs) Jim Walmsley to Frankfurt, whom I unfortunately missed. Anyways, what would I’ve told him? Please follow @runners_highest? I think so. Well, rumours said Jim was maybe going to run the relay marathon but in the end, I don’t think he did.
Thanks for the invite, the food, the massive gear, the bib and everything around Hoka, I had a blast and will be back at the starting line next year. Meanwhile check out my gallery from around the race, the expo and the shake out run below.
